Our St. Andrew Statue

This is how it all came about. I saw in a catalogue an adorable picture of a little boy with a fishing pole in his hand. (On the end of the line was a fish!) I thought about him for a while and decided I couldn't live without him! So I ordered this plastic figurine - feeling guilty, of course -  when people are homeless and starving, etc.! He arrived, and then Sunday came. Our parish bulletin carried a few magnificent lines on the coming Feast Day of the Saint of the Week - St. Andrew, the Fisherman!

The wheels started churning! Fr. Abraham was coming on Tuesday, Nov. 26th to bring me Holy Communion. Maybe he would bless this beautiful little figurine to represent St. Andrew? And why not put in the boy's "creel" a new Eucharistic Home Shrine, to be blessed by Fr. Abraham at the same time.

On the 26th before Father arrived I found in a drawer a "lobster" souvenir spoon brought to us years ago by David from Prince Edward Island in Canada. Earlier in the day on the 26th, I had received five pages of info on Heaven's desire to establish a great Shrine on Prince Edward Isle in Canada, the only place in Canada where there has never been an abortion! The literature was sent by Shrine Keeping Jim Woeber, #1062. He had written before, and I received the info with great indifference, but this confirmed my belief in both the apparition there in Canada and what we had in mind - Father's blessing the little boy fisherman to be a STATUE of St. Andrew!

St. Andrew was present at Jesus' Baptism in the River Jordan.( The rosary put on our S1. Andrew was made in Jordan!) St. Andrew, consequently, believed Christ to be the Messiah, and brought Peter to Christ! He is called Jesus' first disciple.

St. Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland and Russia and of the Greek Church. (Also in his creel is a bit of soil from Russia!) Finally, he is the patron saint of the fishing industry! With all those tie-ins how could I have said NO?

Included in this story are Kathrin Taylor, #4, now deceased, who loved her 1st class relic of St. Andrew; Mabel McManus, #475/1140, of Scotland and our Russian Shrine Keepers in Russia, Alvina & Paul Verapayera, #1588. God bless all.
