JUNE, 2001

This is an EMERGENCY Eucharistic Home Shrine bulletin! Just two days ago I received a letter from Deacon Ronald Halge, (Shrine #1696) who will become FR. Ronald Halge on June 2nd, 2001 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Therese's Church, Karnataka, India. WE'RE ALL INVITED! (It's only 19 hours flying time from Los Angeles to Karnataka. Ha! Ha!)

Fr. Halge's ascent to the priesthood has not been an easy one. His mom died in 1959. He lost a sister in 1953 and then a brother in 1960. Last May his father died. This good father reared the family single handed, being both mother and father to them.

Due to his eldest sisters' care, Roland managed to finish high school and then enroll in the Indian Air Force where he spent 15 years as a wireless operator mechanic.

He writes, "My dad has been a great example and inspiration to me in many ways, As a boy I followed my dad's example of praying daily, morning and night, attending Mass with fervor and going for regular confession and receiving Holy Communion, etc. I remember my dad telling me once, 'Keep Jesus as your best friend, close to you always. And talk to him often, especially when you are facing difficulties.' That is exactly what I did where ever I went even on the cricket/football field, in the classroom and in the dance hall, etc. Jesus has been my personal guide and helper in many ways. Blessed Mother Mary took my mother's place!"

Three times Roland was tormented by the question of whether he should try to become a priest or not, but The Two Hearts followed him from his IAF departure in New Delhi to Bangalore and then to the Sacred Heart Seminary in Meghalaya, India.

"I am very grateful to Miss Mary Razia Ambrose (Shrine #25) for having enrolled my name with the EHS in the US of America for prayerful support. I feel indebted to all the EHS members who have been praying for me to persevere and become a priest. I am still in need of your prayerful support that I may become a truly worthy priest of His, totally committed to His service. I too remember you all in my prayers especially during Holy Mass. I assure all of you in the EHS that I will continue to pray for you, especially when I am saying my daily Mass after my ordination. If you cannot come physically, please make sure you come spiritually. My First Mass is on June 3rd, at 6:30 am., also at St. Therese's in Karnataka. I will SEND YOU MY FIRST PRIESTLY BLESSING!"

We hope all of our members will respond to this humble priest's ordination. Send notes, cards, and a monetary sacrifice will be much appreciated also! Thanx so much. Father Halge's address is St. Therese's Church, Robertsonpet, Kolar Gole Fields District, Karnataka, PIN 563122, INDIA.

All of the MOTHERS on our EHS list will be included in 30 Motheršs Day Masses at St. Anthony's, El Segundo, starting May 13th.

Please cherish this bulletin not only for its contents on Fr. Halge, but also because it has been blessed with a Cross brought by Trista Truesdell from Our Blessed Mother's House in Ephesus, Turkey!

LOVE LOTS IN THEIR TWO PRECIOUS
